Getting Started with PowerWAF
This guide walks you through the complete process of setting up PowerWAF to protect your website. From creating your account to verifying that traffic is flowing through our WAF and CDN, you will have your site secured in minutes.
What is PowerWAF?
PowerWAF is a cloud-based Web Application Firewall (WAF) with an integrated Content Delivery Network (CDN). It sits between your visitors and your origin server, filtering malicious traffic in real time while accelerating content delivery.
When a user requests your website, the traffic first passes through PowerWAF's network, where it is inspected for threats such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting (XSS), remote code execution (RCE), and other attacks. Legitimate requests are forwarded to your origin server, and responses are cached and delivered through the CDN for optimal performance.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- A registered domain (e.g.,
example.com) that you own or manage. - Access to your domain's DNS settings at your registrar or DNS provider (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare DNS, Route 53).
- A valid email address for account verification.
- Your origin server IP address (the server where your website is hosted).
Setup Overview
The configuration process consists of four main steps:
| Step | Description | Time |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Create Your Account | Register, verify your email, and log in | 2 min |
| 2. Initial Setup | Choose DNS mode, add your domain, and select a plan | 3 min |
| 3. Configure DNS | Point your domain's traffic through PowerWAF | 5-10 min |
| 4. Explore the Dashboard | Understand the dashboard and configure security rules | 5 min |
The entire process takes approximately 15-20 minutes. DNS propagation may take additional time depending on your registrar (typically a few minutes to 48 hours).
